Treasure in the Ruins
by Nezam Manouchehri
“Treasure in the ruins” is a personal and universal fable that unfolds against the backdrop of Iran’s contemporary history from the constitutional revolution of 1905 to the Islamic revolution of 1979 and beyond, encompassing two coup d’etats and two wars. It’s a story that covers the fate of a family and the tale of its fathers, each of whom represent a generation marking a separate era. It takes a more subjective tone as the narrator, the ultimate son takes us on his journey of exiles and returns, revealing the country and the people, their beliefs and their culture, amidst a blend of nostalgia for the past and the inertia of the present, longing to be filled with love. The final manuscript is awaiting publication. http://www.brownbook.me/a-treasure-in-the-ruins/
